In the olden times work was a break from everything else, Family, Friends, pets and the news and politics.

9/11 changed all of that. Because everyone was desperately waiting the next major attack a TV was put into every business. Since the news channels needed something to blabber about they would talk about the dumbest thing possible, politics. Now that politics were being played in every place of business the NPCs felt it was okay for them to spew their nonsense all the time. It was no longer that one crazy guy who listened to news radio all day, it was most of your coworkers. All of the sudden in was okay to say extremely stupid things like “people are created equal” “California is the cultural capital of the world” “smoking pot doesn’t make you a paranoid sociopath and jam bands are cool” and “people like Canada”.

It used to be that I didn’t know about my coworkers mental illness. That person I used to joke around with in the break room became the person I couldn’t make jokes about those people with.
